Cabin Crew Intake

A. During our cabin crew orientation, our crew will be briefed on HR issues.

B. 5 things to know about being our cabin crew:

  • Pleasant personality and enthusiastic
  • Good Communication skills
  • Courteous
  • Good posture, complexion and body frame
  • Having general knowledge is good to have especially when conversing with our customers.

C. At the orientation, we organized an induction programme where our graduates are briefed about history of Malaysia Airlines and our company’s business strategies and vision. A walkabout around the academy and a visit to our archive room are organized at this session.

I have been a cabin crew for coming 20 years and still loving every minute of it. I have grown from within the ranks and if there is any advice I can share with anyone aspiring to be a cabin crew is this ..... get ready to attend the interview and polish up your command of the English language.

One of the most important criteria in becoming a cabin crew is the ability to communicate effectively.

There are various groups in the Klang Valley which can help in this area and one of the most effective club is the Toastmasters Club.

In MAS, we have 3 clubs for staffs and we are very serious about learning the art of effective oral communication.

All the best to you who are aspiring to be cabin crew and if you are successful, remember that you have been chosen to be amongst the BEST in the industry.

Best Wishes always.

Dear Ahmad Luqman,

Thank you for visiting our Living MH Blog. We are pleased to know that you are interested in becoming a pilot.

I have checked with my colleague and found out that to become a pilot, one has to go through rigorous trainings and many structured simulator sessions. For your information, basic flying training is about 18 months in order to obtain Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Frozen Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). Upon completion, a cadet needs to undergo conversion training with MAS for about 11 months. All in, it would take about 2.5 years before one can become a full fledge pilot with the airline.

Please click on this comment to find out more information on becoming a pilot.

Thank you and do visit our blog again.

Dear Johnica, Hillary & Alice

Thank you for your interest in Malaysia Airlines.

Here are some tips on what we are looking for during our interview session. During our interview session, we organized a focus group discussion during which a panel of interviewers and a group of candidates will sit together to discuss a topic. From there, we will review our candidates based on their interactions with others. Whilst English fluency is important, we are also looking for candidates who are energetic, highly motivated, team player, positive behavioral traits, cheerful and positive attitude.

We wish you good luck for your interview and remember to be yourself and enjoy the interview session.

Thank you.

Dear Shafiee,

Thank you for your interest in Malaysia Airlines Cabin Crew.

MAS would usually recruit cabin crew as and when the vacancy takes place, thus by attending our interview session will be the only way to be accepted and trained at the Academy. We are seeking for both – personality & appearance.

Throughout our experience, walk-in interviews are the most effective medium of recruitment drive for cabin crew position. For that reason, resume shall be submitted on the interview session and not on any other days.

We encourage you to look out for our advertisements in the local newspapers.

One of our requirements for cabin crew is to have an excellent health with good eyesight. It wouldn’t matter if the candidate is wearing spectacles or contact lens during the interview. On the same note, interview shall be conducted in English.

Dear Jane,

The minimum height is 157 cm for the girls and 165 cm for the boys. The height requirement is extremely important for safety purposes as well as aesthetic reason. For aesthetic reasons-being front liners they must meet certain requirements that would appeal to the public eye. This would also help in projecting confidence that would complement the baju kebaya for the ladies.

The height requirement is important as some of the safety equipments on board are placed at the overhead stowage compartments in the aircraft as well as our crews would have to assist passengers with their hand luggage in the overhead stowage compartments.

Thank you for your query and visiting our blog.

I got a question to ask here. I am wearing glasses, and i have high powers in both of my eyes. Would this eye factor is able to have impact on the selection of cabin crews?

If i managed to get through the interview rounds, I would switch to wearing cons.

Do hope to hear from you soon.

Dear miss sumathi:

Thanks for reading the following and hope to get your advise soon.^^

I went for the walk-in interview for flight steward position on 10th oct 2009 but i was being rejected in the very first round after the height measurement since i didn't have enough subject pass and printed on the SPM certificate. Kindly advise that if SPM results is the main and the only audit standard for the application althought i was enclosing with my Unified Examination Certificate (UEC,which was equivalent A Levels Examination) a 1119 General Certificate and all of my oficial academic certificates on that day. Thanks again for your review and kindly advise.

Yours sincerely,

Hi Adie,

Glad to learn about your keen interest in MAS. Because of the current economic climate the company has embarked on numerous cost management measures. One of which includes holding off recruitment of new staff accept if required in operational areas such as crew and pilots. This is a company wide policy and therefore all divisions including the Communications Division do not have vacancies at this point in time.

Curious to know is there a particular reason you would like to work for MAS?

Hye.
I really interest to join MH Cabin crew and
i was wondering how long the academy training?

The Second question is how long for the contract as a stewardess??

Lastly do we have to go to training first or interview first?

Hope you will reply.
Thank you!
Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Mohamad Zaidi Abdul Rahman says:
Dear Lala,

Thanking you for your interest in Malaysia Airlines Cabin Crew.

For your info, the duration for the Academy training is 10 weeks, which includes practical, theory, Computer Based Training and flying duties.

As for the second question, upon selection, you will need to serve us for a 5-year contract during which time you are not allowed to get pregnant.

You are required to attend an open walk-in interview which we conduct from time to time at various locations. Upon selection, you will have to undergo training at MAS Academy in Kelana Jaya.

All cabin crew start with narrow body and depending on business requirements they will proceed to wide body. This is a process that all crew must undergo.

Do keep a look-out for our ads in the website and major newspapers.
